International students

Georges River College Penshurst Girls Campus welcomes International Students.

Each year, International students across Years 7-10 study at the school.

We have a very supportive International Students Coordinator – Ms Linquist.  She looks after all International Students at the school. All teachers are very supportive.

At GRC Penshurst Girls Campus we support our International students by:

  • Developing an understanding of international students in Australia, in particular the cultural backgrounds of our students.
  • Developing an understanding of the challenges faced by our international students through the monitoring of attendance to ensure safety and wellbeing.
  • Practices and strategies to support the teaching and learning of international students as all teachers get to know their students and how best they learn.
  • Developing a plan of action that includes the procedures of enrolment, attendance, buddy system and socialisation, teacher mentor and International student coordinator to support organisation and learning.

Our International Student coordinating team will support this action plan for students. This team involves the Deputy Principal, Head Teacher Welfare and International Student Coordinator.

We warmly welcome all international students to Georges River College, in particular to Penshurst Girls Campus.

Student Testimonials:

‘This is the first time for me to be away from my home country, Thailand.  As an International Student at Georges River College Penshurst Girls Campus I was welcomed warmly by my new friends who helped me overcome my fear of being in a new environment.  I am still struggling with my English which makes me anxious, but all my teachers and friends understand my situation and have been patiently helping me to improve.  It's a wonderful experience to be among new people and sharing my culture with them.  I'm learning how to be a young adult here and develop useful skills for my future.  School gives me a lesson to be responsible in everything and I'm very happy.  This is the best part of my life, I have had experienced ever!!'
